To Kelly and
A2Z Rescue:
Just thought I'd send you an update on Ivy (aka Kitty) who we adopted
in September. We would like you to know that we feel very lucky
to
have found Ivy (and I hope she feels the same)! She has such a great
personality! The kids adore her, even the my oldest boy who wasn't
really sure he wanted a dog. My youngest smothers her with affection
and my daughter is a second mother and trainer (she's a wonderful
help). Timidity is her only weakness, but I think it keeps her from
being over energetic and is more of an asset now, as she is more
and
more confident all the time.
Ivy is a wonderfully beautiful dog. She looks chocolate lab but
in
certain light, so many colors come out we guess and guess what else
she
must be. She is not growing very large, so we suspect probably
something smaller than a lab. Her behavior around the kids is all
we
could ask for, so tolerant. She is good with all kids actually,
some
of the neighborhood kids who are afraid of dogs make an exception
with
Ivy! Her training is going well, we think. She had two accidents
the
first day she was with us (only two peeps) and since then she goes
right out back to "get busy" in her spot and right back
in! We put in
an invisible fence in the back yard, she took to that training like
a
pro and now I can let her out back and she has a blast!
We have not taken her to training classes yet but we will very
soon.
So far she knows sit, down, come, bring, give, and wait commands.
Most
of the time she listens but she is just a puppy still! So far, off
the leash, she shows no sign of wanting to be anywhere but with
us.
She hates the leash, and adores walking in the woods with any or
all of
us. She is super excited when she meets new dogs and is best pals
with
the Golden across the street.
She is a wonderful addition to our family and we thank you for
helping
her find her way to us!
