NEWS 8/17/06: TCAS will he holding its next Volunteer Orientation September 2, 2006 at 12pm.  You must call and reserve your spot at this meeting.  We welcome everyone to come and give us a visit and see what volunteering at our shelter is all about.  At this time we are still only receiving adult volunteers.  Please stay posted for more information coming soon about our junior programs.  

NEWS 8/5/06: Volunteer Orientation today!

NEWS 7/26/06: Today we were visited by Girl Scout Troop 1780 (led by Troop Leader Sammi Jo).  The girls were here as part of their Interest Projects Program to learn about our facility, our community, and our pets.  We had a lot of fun working with socialization of cats and dogs and we got to talk about our local animal laws and the people who enforce them.  We also talked about different things we do to take care of our pets like giving them blankets to sleep on, brushing them, and keeping them clean. Below are the girls holding some of the pets we got to work with today.  Thank you so much for coming out to visit us.  We hope to have you back soon!

NEWS 7/21/06: Thank you to John for donating a digital camera to us (and for ALL your donations)!  We now have a permanent camera again and should be able to provide everyone with photos of our available pets!  Thank you!

Thank you to Christina for letting us borrow your digital camera until we get new ones.  As you can see our photos are back up for now.

NEWS: 7/7/06: Currently all of our cameras are out of service so please be patient as we wait to get replacements in order to photograph our pets.  Thank you for your continued support!

NEWS: 6/27/06: Today TCAS visited the Taylor County Public Library's summer reading group: PAWS, CLAWS, SCALES, AND TALES! We had a lot of fun talking about how to take care of our pets.  Thank you so much for having us and the doggies and kitties really liked all the presents you gave them!  Meow Meow, Kitty, Doc, and Emmy all say hello!

NEWS 6/9/06: Our next Volunteer Orientation will be held in July.  The date has not yet been set.  Currently we only have a program for adults but we are hoping that by our next Orientation we will be able to welcome our Junior Volunteers as well! Stay posted!

NEWS 6/2/06: Our first Volunteer Orientation will be held tomorrow, June 3rd at the Taylor County Animal Shelter.  It will take place at 12 PM.  We will be covering the different volunteer positions available, how to apply, and more.  Please join us!

NEWS 5/28/06:  We had our Yard Sale on Saturday and made a very meager amount of money.  Please realize that your local shelter really needs your support and its up to each and every one of us in the community to take care of these orphaned pets.  Please stay updated for upcoming events.

NEWS 5/22/06: Yard Sale May 27th, 2006.  All Proceeds go to the TCAS.

NEWS 4/16/06: HAPPY EASTER!!!!  We currently have 3 litters of newborn kittens and 1 litter of newborn puppies which are in foster care.  If you are interested in these new babies, please contact us today for more information. 

NEWS 04/05/06: We have several puppies currently in foster care.  Please visit our pet list or our baby page to see information about these and the many other puppies we currently have available for adoption.

NEWS 12/29/05: We have a new litter of puppies currently in foster care.  They will be available for adoption in 2 weeks.  Photos coming soon!

NEWS 12/03/05:  Congratulations to our manager, John Harris, who was married today! We all are so happy for you and wish you and your bride all the best!

NEWS 11/01/05: We have new babies! Our Corgi mix named Sassi had 5 puppies today.  *UPDATE* These puppies have all been adopted.  Thank you to those who took these babies into their hearts and homes.

NEWS 10/31/05: Come visit us tonight at the annual Safe and Scary Trick or Treat Bash at the Youth Center Miller Park.  We will be giving out lots ghouuuullllishh treats for you ghosts, goblins, witches, and other spooky creatures out there! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

UPDATE 10/29/05: Today we had a wonderful time at the 1st Annual K-nine "Howl-o-ween Costume Contest!  There were so many great costumes!  We would like to thank:  K-Country and 104.1 for hosting this event, EVERY business who donated items (Cobblestone Farms, Pierce Portrait Studio, Mulch Madness, Magnolia Alley, and Phillips Agriculture), and most importantly we would like to thank everyone who came out today to support us.  I will be posting more on this contest in the next few days so please check back (photos will be included!)

NEWS 10/21/05: K-COUNTRY is hosting its 1st Annual K-nine "Howl-o-ween" Costume Contest for pets!  It will be held Saturday, October 29th at Miller Park.  The entry is $5.00 prior to the day of the contest and $10.00 on the day of the contest.  All proceeds will go to the Taylor Co. Animal Shelter.  Please contact us with any questions and to find out more about the rules and regulations.

NEWS 9/22/05: Director John Harris has returned from Mississippi where he aided the Humane Society of the United States in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.  Click the picture below to view photos of the trip.

UPDATE 9/7/05:  All of our cocker spaniels have found placement thanks to the wonderful folks at HAPPY TAILS, THE LOVE FOR A LIFETIME FOUNDATION, INC., ALL PETS RESCUE, AND WAGGIN' TALES RESCUE.  We can't say thank you enough for all the support we have received during this crisis.  Thank you again.

UPDATE 8/31/05:  We are now housing 8 cocker spaniels thanks to THE LOVE FOR A LIFETIME FOUNDATION, INC.  This rescue organization took 13 cockers today and will be getting them all their medical needs met and finding them new, loving homes.  Thanks again for your support.  The remaining cockers are currently on HOLD for two other rescue organizations that are planning trips to pickup the cockers this weekend.

NEWS 8/29/05:  We are currently housing 21 cocker spaniels that are still in need of placement. We are working with some rescue groups across North America to try and find these doggies a home. If you or anyone you know might be able to help us, please contact us as soon as you can. Thanks to everyone who has been emailing and calling us. We really appreciate the outreach and its people like you who make our job worthwhile.
