The HSCC operates as a not-for-profit organization dependent upon fund-raisers, and donations for our operation. The Humane Society's mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect to animals by operating an animal shelter for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals; by operating an adoption center for healthy animals; by investigating cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public in responsible pet ownership. If you need to surrender an animal, please note that we only accept animals from Clinton County residents. Spay/neuter is required for all pets adopted from our shelter.

Barney is our resident shelter cat. He appeared at the old shelter as a stray. When it was time to make the move to the new facility, we decided to have him neutered and let him be our ambassador for the shelter. Even though the shelter is staffed with one part-time and three full-time employees, Barney thinks he runs the shelter!
