BOND COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

Welcome

The Bond County Humane Society (BCHS) exists to provide
temporary sanctuary for unwanted, lost and neglected
animals for ultimate placement in loving and responsible homes.  BCHS is a nonprofit charitable organization committed to promote animal welfare through education and to actively encourage pet population reduction.  We are dedicated to creating, in Bond County, an environment that enhances awareness of homeless animals and support for the humane treatment of these animals.

BCHS does not receive funding assistance from the city, county, state or any other organization.  BCHS is totally dependent on membership dues, donations, grants and fundraisers to help the animals.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Bond County Humane Society is based on the core value that all animals deserve to be treated in a humane manner.  Dogs and cats with no homes need temporary shelter until a permanent, loving home can be found for them.  We believe that awareness and education allows animals and humans to come together, for the benefit of both.

HELP STOP ANIMAL ABUSE

You might think we would be hardened by now because of the neglect and abuse we have seen in the treatment of some animals. Every case, like little kittens in a plastic bag being hurled from the window of a car into a flooded creek, dogs and puppies being beaten, or left on a country road to die of starvation, exposure or dehydration, animals allowed to kill or be killed in vicious fights, still break our hearts and make us mad!

BUT, you can help make a difference.

If you observe suspicious activities we urge you to help the animals by reporting the information to the proper authorities and to your local Humane Society.  Write down license numbers, vehicle descriptions, and contact your County Sheriff’s Office, City Police Station, the Illinois Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Div. in Springfield at (217) 782-6657, and/or the ASPCA at (618) 345-8086.

Remember, BCHS is an all-volunteer organization operating solely on donations, fundraisers and grants and receives no funding from city, county, state or federal governments, or any other private organization.  We need your support to continue our efforts in helping the animals.  Together we can all make a difference.

In January 2002 the Governor of Illinois allowed for the issuance of Pet Friendly license plates.  Proceeds from these plates go into a pet overpopulation fund to provide money for spaying and neutering Illinois companion dogs and cats.

To register for Pet Friendly license plates please visit the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles website.
