"Saints Among Us", Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue, affiliated with the National Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, homeless, and relinquished Saints find a "forever home". ISBR is run solely by volunteers who have a great love for the breed and the dedication to help save them. Our volunteers put in countless hours and travel great distances, to ensure that these wonderful Saints find loving forever homes and are not destroyed.
We also have an Approved Humane Investigator on our staff. We are able to
investigate complaints and allegations of improper animal care to ensure
compliance with the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act.
Because we are a rescue group, we do not have "shelter" where the animals are housed. We provide temporary, loving foster homes for all of our dogs until they are placed in their new homes. The dogs are fully vaccinated, sterilized, micro-chipped, parasite, and heartworm free. They are also temperament tested in a variety of situations. Most dogs are 18 months and older. We occasionally get puppies under one year of age. Some of our dogs may require special needs while others just require a lifetime of love. Meet Our Dedicated Volunteers!

We understand that due to circumstances beyond your control, surrendering your Saint Bernard to us may be your only choice. We do ask that you make a clear conscious effort to give your Saint every possible chance to remain in it's loving environment. Should you need to call on us, we will make every effort to call you or email you in a timely manner and work your Saint into the system as space allows.
Please understand that we are a foster home based group. We do not have a
shelter therefore space is very limited and there is a good possibility we may
not be able to assist you. We have provided a website that offers help and
information on how to help keep your dog. Please visit
http://www.wonderpuppy.net/canwehelp/rehome.htm In the event that we can
help your dog, we DO NOT except Saints that have a bite history with humans and other animals or show signs of serious aggression.. We ask for a minimum donation of $50 to help ready your Saint for adoption. For more information on how your Saint can become a part of ISBR, please contact us via email or phone and fill out a release form to begin the process.

In order to assure that the Saint Bernard you are interested in adopting is best suited to your lifestyle, and that it will be placed in a loving environment that is compatible with its needs, you will need to complete an adoption application. Prior to submitting your application, we ask that you read, and fully understand, the terms of our adoption contract. Once we receive the application, the process begins. If you are interested in adopting a particular dog, please note that on the application. We would like to get the ball rolling as soon as we receive your application.
Please keep in mind that the dog you have an interest in may not be compatible
with you or available for adoption. We will try and find the best dog to suit
your needs and lifestyle. We will check both personal and veterinary references. We will also perform a home visit. The average time from start to finish may take up to
3 weeks as we are an all volunteer group. We strive to place our Saints quickly but not carelessly so all applications will be reviewed thoroughly. Our adoption fee is $350. This fee covers the necessary veterinary related cost to ready the Saint for adoption and the cost to feed and house the Saints while in rescue. They are sterilized, fully vaccinated, heartworm and parasite free, and micro-chipped for identification.
Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more specific info. |

Unfortunately, people are relinquishing their Saints everyday and we are running out of room! We are in desperate need of foster homes! You can help by becoming a foster parent for a homeless Saint! The average stay of a Saint in rescue is 3 weeks to 3 months. All that is expected of you is to provide a loving, stable home with food, water, and shelter. The dogs are sterilized, current on all vaccines, heartworm and parasite free. Please consider lending you heart and home to one of these gentle giants. Please contact us for more information and fill out a volunteer application.
