Tammy rescued her first Saint Bernard when she was 16 years old from a local pet store she was employed at that was set to euthanize "Barnie" because of Sarcoptic Mange. Barnie became very ill at the age of 3 from a congenital heart defect commonly seen in puppy mill puppies. Barnie passed away soon after and since, Tammy has been rescuing and helping animals any way she can. She started fostering Saints for Wisconsin Saint Bernard Rescue in 2000 and became the Rescue Coordinator for Illinois in 2001. She soon had ISBR up and running and became the president of ISBR in 2002. She is very dedicated to breed education and animal welfare.
Tammy shares her home with three Saints, a Great Dane, a Shar-Pei mix, and serves as a foster home for the rescue Saints.

Meet Our Mascots
Following the passing of our beloved mascot, Lincoln, two new mascots joined the ISBR family. Otis and Twitch are the welcoming faces at many of our public events. They love to work a crowd and cuddle with children. They are truly great representatives of the breed we love!

Meet our Volunteers
Without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue couldn't survive! Our adoption counselors check veterinary and personal references on all potential adopters. They perform an extensive home visit to insure the Saint is placed in the most suitable home. They spend countless hours on the phone and returning emails. Our volunteers help rescue, foster, transport, prepare dogs for their new homes, attend special events, organize mailings, fundraisers, and promote rescue at our local Petco stores. We have many people to thank! Here are some familiar faces of ISBR!
