Understand that it takes time for an animal to adjust to a new home. Animals can be adaptable, but it can take three to six months to adjust to a new home. A rescued animal may need even more time. It is important that you take time and let the animal know your expectations. Re-training or obedience school may be a good idea. Some animals are used to having a den to retreat to as their safe place. Keeping the animal's food and water away from other pets and children can also help the animal adjust.
Understand that this is an adoption, the animal MUST be returned to Pick-A-Pet Adoptions, Inc. if for any reason, at any time, you are unable to keep the animal. The foster parent will then either adopt the dog to another home, or keep the dog in the foster home permanently.

Although you may have been thinking about adopting an animal for awhile, we need to be assured that this adoption is right for both the animal and you. It is extremely stressful for the animal, let alone hard on you, if an adoption does not work. Therefore, we may take several applications for an animal and contact you in a day or two to let you know if we feel this would be a good adoption.
Understand that this is an adoption, NOT a sale. Pick-A-Pet Adoptions, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any adoption that is not in the best interest of the animal.

Adoption Process and Application
This application and our adoption process are designed to help us determine if the adoption is in the best interest of the animal and its needs, and to assist you in finding the animal most compatible with you, your home and your lifestyle.
Our adoption process includes filling out this application, talking with the foster parent of the animal, interacting with the animal in which you are interested, a veterinarian reference check, a pre-adoption home check, an adoption contract, an adoption fee and follow-up call/visits. Please be patient with this process. We really want the adoption to work both for the animal and for you and your family.
