  Marcia Henry, Animal Services Director
  Jeannine Smith, Humane Society Representative
  Mimi Curran
Lee Bledsoe
  Jimmy Dickerson, Brunswick Police Depart
Tommy Dixon, ACO
  Jan Rossiter, DVM, Vet. Representative
Lee Stewart, Visitor, Brunswick Fire Depart.

Our meeting was called to order at 7:00P.M. At the new facility. The minutes and attachments from the October meeting were read and reviewed

David began by reviewing the agenda and stating that he thought things would be toned down for the year 2002.  He said he was in the process of working with Carl Alexander about our problem with our “funds” and hoped to have things straightened out by this summer.

David advised the board that Amy Aronson-Friedman had resigned effective 2/1/02. He told Mimi to notify Vanessa Mincey to advertise the open position as soon as possible. We also discussed that David Rice and Lee Bledsoe’s terms would expire 2/1/02 and to advise Vanessa Mincey that the board recommends they be renewed. We also welcomed Jeannine Smith as the Humane Society Representative to replace Jan Casey.

Marcia handed out statistic sheets and we reviewed them. She reported that all but two adopted animals had been returned for the free spay/neuter clinics and those two had good reason for not being returned yet. The board agreed that was exceptional and complimented Marcia on her outstanding operation of the facility.

We discussed the joint rummage sale and set a tentative date of Saturday, March 23rd from 8:00 A.M, TO 2:00 P.M. at the Humane Society. Jeannine Smith said she had room at the Humane Society to take donations we had already collected and they would take any drop offs during regular business hours.

Tommy also showed us an article that he recently read about how Chicago animal control is putting microchips in dogs that are labeled as dangerous and vicious before being returned to the owner, at the owner’s expense, so to better identify the animal if and when it came back to the Animal control. The Board agreed this was an excellent idea and David made the motion that we should put the recommendation before the Commissioners that all dogs classified as potentially dangerous, dangerous, and/or vicious should be microchiped at the owner’s expense before returning the dog back to the owner. Lee Bledsoe seconded the motion. David said he would write a letter to Gary Moore in this regard.

No one had anything else for discussion and David set the next meeting date for February 20, 2002 and the meeting was concluded.
