Chess
Chess
was an owner turn in back in March, she spent one month in the
animal aid center and arrived at my foster home 2 weeks ago at
almost 6 years old, 111.2 lbs with a bacterial infection, mange,
eye and ear infections, hypothyroidism and a coat that was so
matted that she had to be shaved from behind her ears to where her
tail begins. What we found after that were sores all over her
belly and on the inside of her legs...I've never seen elbow
callouses as big as what I found on
this little girl. She's about 50 lbs overweight and can barely walk due
to this weight, she can only stand for limited amounts of time and
then has to sit or lay down. You can't feel any bones on her
there is so much fat. Her story is sad but seen very often,
after 4 years of living with her family she was dropped off due to
a family members allergies. Her previous vet had recommended a
thyroid profile but one was never done so she continued to gain
weight. Her liver enzymes are elevated and I'm
worried about that but we're going to tackle the other problems
first and see if that helps the liver. She's going to be a very
expensive girl for the next month or so, that's for sure...

Hey
..i 'm GUY!!! I have been waiting a VERY long time for my forever
home. I really cannot believe that no one has been interested in
becoming my forever family. I really am a good dog. I am laid
back, aim to please, don't mind a walk or two, like to just hang
out and get alot of pets....I mean alot of petting and
brushing...all that attention..I just love it...but you know what.
I won't ever be a pest, I promise. I just want a family to love. I
get along with everyone and will pretty much mold to your
lifestyle. Please consider me. I am really getting depressed that
I don't have a forever home yet. I am maybe 11 years old but I
don't act my age. I have lost that weight that the vet wanted me
to loose, I get some exercise and I am ready...ready to be loved
and give love. Please consider me...remember my name...its GUY!!
Call the rescue if you want to learn more about me...really I am
ALMOST perfect...a perfect senior! Their number is 239 514-2715.
"Once someone has had the good fortune to share a true love affair with a Golden Retriever, one's life and one's outlook are never quite the same again. A warm afterglow remains that last a lifetime." Betty White, from Arthur Vanderbilt's book, GOLDEN DAYS
