Our Precious Boy, Fred

~ This is Our Darling Fred! ~

I first found my beloved Fred when he was just a puppy.  He had been abandoned, and one day, while working, I heard his plaintiff cries from outside my office window.  It was love at first sight! Through out the years, I always felt as though Fred and I were connected to one another in a very spiritual way.

Fred was the smartest little boy I ever saw! He understood English very well, and we had to spell the word "bath", or he would run and hide under the bed whenever he heard that word!  He traveled everywhere with us, and when he saw the suitcases coming out of the closet, he always waited anxiously until he saw his little red satchel added to the pile!  He was a wonderful little traveler, and over the years, he was my constant and faithful companion.

When I first began my rescue work, I was a bit concerned how Fred would react, since he was used to being my "only child."  But I needn't have worried, because he had a heart so big that he truly welcomed every new rescue with joy and love!

Whenever I was ill, Fred would never leave my side until he was sure that I was well again.  He slept each night lying right at my feet, and sometimes, I still awake and reach out to him there.  Fred was just 12 years old when I lost him suddenly and without warning on August 20, 2006.  Although his  loss left a void in my heart that can never be filled, I know that one day I will cross the Rainbow Bridge and I will once again gaze upon the beloved face of my precious Fred.

Since his passing, I have felt his spirit and love with me each and every day, and that feeling of closeness has given me the strength and courage to carry on with this wondrous and important work that Fred and I began together so many years ago.

bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. "

~ Grateful Acknowledgement

"The one absolute, unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world-the one
that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous- is his dog...
He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that have
encountered the roughness of the world... When all friends desert, he remains."
