INTERMEDIATE OBEDIENCE 4 MONTHS ONWARD: Intermediate Obedience is the next step in ensuring your dog's safety and absolutely necessary if you want to let your dog off leash in public and if you need to have better control when your dog is in the house. This segment is especially necessary if you have more than one dog in the household. Your dog will learn such commands as:

    Off Leash Commands
  • Sit (In one place until released)
  • Down (Lay down in one place until released)
  • Recall (Come to me when off leash)
  • Place (Go to your bed, blanket, any spot you mark with a blanket)
  • Distractions (Practice of all commands while being distracted)

This segment will enable you to take your dog out in public and be confident that he will remain under your control and confident in his demeanor. It includes work with the 30 foot longe line and develops the dog's ability to keep his eye contact and attention on you. You learn the correct timing to make effective corrections and praise and how to be patient and consistent. The better you understand how to do effective commands, the faster your dog learns.
