Reed's Story

Reed tiptoed around the room talking to us constantly the day he arrived (his top right photo).
He proved to be a loving fellow who likes to come over and sit at our feet.

Reed was surrendered to another small rescue group in a community far from Katie's Place. They would have kept him and found a home for him but his vet check revealed that he has Feline Leukemia (FeLV). He couldn't live with FeLV- cats, and they didn't have any facilities for him, so Reed made the journey to Maple Ridge to join our Boys' Pen on August 30, 2009. He probably had an altercation with another FeLV cat in his past to have contracted the virus. He's about two years old, and he wasn't altered until February 2009 so the battle would have been hormone-driven. But without the need to fight for food or turf, Reed is a docile sweetheart. From the moment he joined our Boys' Pen, he's been an amiable fellow who is never demanding and simply enjoys being with us when we're around. He gets along well among the other cats and he'll come over and lie at your feet when you enter the room. We're happy to be his friends and family for as long as he needs us.
