Powder's Story

Powder is an elegant, inscrutable feline, but she also shows a bit of a playful streak at times as you can see in the top far right photos.

Powder came from a municipal shelter on March 27, 2007. She was a friendly, well-behaved six-year-old, but when the shelter became full and a bout of cat flu went through the cat room, some needed to come to us. She had been taken there on February 9 from her home with an elderly lady. She was used to a very quiet life, so living at a shelter was a tough adjustment. Still, she nuzzled a hearty greeting when visitors went to meet her. Unfortunately, none of them wanted her. At Katie's Place too, months passed and nobody wanted the quiet white cat. She never asked for attention although she acknowledged you if you went to her. So she was overlooked time and again. She's a self-contained little soul who has made the shelter her home. Her favourite perch in the middle of her room lets her see comings and goings through the screened door. She doesn't welcome a lot of attention before letting you know that she's had enough. She would probably do better in a quiet home. But the opportunity to prove it has not come along.

The video below was made at the municipal shelter to which Powder was first surrendered.

This video was made at our new shelter in 2009.
