Nancy's Story

Nancy will scamper away from people before she'll allow them to touch her. But once she feels proper introductions have been made, she welcomes their pets and attention. See in the top right photo how she nuzzles her nest in acknowledgement!
In the bottom right photo, Nancy batted experimentally at everything she saw in her foster home.

Nancy came from another shelter that had become too full at the end of August 2008. She was still a youngster but she was skittish and full of sass and spunk. She took a couple of weeks to trust her foster mom. Then when she did, she was full of mischief, following Foster Mom during cleaning, and playing with Foster Mom's tools. She loved pets although she didn't want to be picked up. She didn't care for other cats at all and could cheerfully have been the only cat. Her skittishness and refusal to be picked up would have pegged her as a former feral. Yet her dislike of other cats was very unlike ferals. She's probably just a bit temperamental by nature. After summer ended, there was room for her at Katie's Place and she settled in very well, learning to live among the other cats without any problem. But she never did learn to seek attention. She keeps to herself. Only if you go to her and give her pets until she rolls onto her back and wriggles flirtatiously would you realize that Nancy is a sweetheart. Her reserved, rather high-strung nature means this pretty tabby is always overlooked by adopters.

The two videos below were made in the autumn of 2009.
