Rowdy Bio
Rowdy was rescued from the Chilton County Humane Society in December 2003. He had been picked up by animal control because he was hanging out at the local "Freds" store, scrounging for food. Fred didn't really seem like a shepherd name so while transporting to GSRCA he was quite rowdy in the backseat of the car - so he was named Rowdy. This young dog was unfortunately heartworm positive. We discovered a urinary tract infection as well, which was treated. Once the vet felt Rowdy was ready for his heartworm treatment we proceeded with that in May 2004. This boy died during the second week of his treatment, mostly likely from an embolus - which is a risk of the treatment but rarely occurs.
