Adoption Application

Thank you very much for your interest in a SFR furbaby. We have precious furbabies that are very deserving of wonderful, loving "forever" homes. Most of our babies are "rescued" from shelter and were on their last day of life. So, please know by adopting a SFR baby YOU saved a life and made room for us to rescue another abandon or abused furbaby.

Please read the bottom of this application for details on our adoption process!

Adoption Process & Information:

This process can take anywhere from 1 week to 1 month. Depending on the specific dog you're interested in. And, how hard it is to arrange your home visit, check your references and transport arrangements. As well as any outstanding vet needs the dog may have.

Here are some basic guidelines that must be met BEFORE submitting an application:

—The person submitting the application, MUST be the person who is actually adopting the dog.
—The applicant must be 24 yrs or older.
—The applicant must be willing to undergo reference checks and home visit. (home where the dog will live)
—All current pets must be spayed/neutered and up to date on shots.
—A VET Reference is REQUIRED! No way around it!!! On ALL current and/or previous pets.
—A fence yard is required for MOST adoptions, however this is not always a requirement. It depends on the dogs needs. BUT, MOST likely you will need a fenced yard.

Completing the adoption application is a prerequisite to adopting a furbaby through Southern Furbaby Rescue. This is NOT a first-come, first-served process. All applicants are screened and approved on the needs of our furbabies. We place them in the "Best" home, based on THEIR needs and personality.

Not every application we receive is approved. If you're not approved for the "Specific" dog you applied for, please understand that means we feel another home was more suitable for this little one's NEEDS. NOT that you would be a bad pet owner OR we may have received another application that meets the dogs needs "prior" to receiving your application.

The application process includes:

—Submitting an Application.
—"Qualified" Applicants will receive a call/e-mail within 2 days of submitting an application, if the dog is still available.
—Reference checks.
—A HOME VISIT by one of our rescue contacts...THIS IS A MUST!!!!
—Sign Adoption Contract.
—Submit required Adoption Fee.
—Travel Arrangements - New parent must make travel plans. We are willing to drive two hours if needed.

If you falsify any information or neglect to inform us of any information that is pertinent in processing your application, your application will not be approved. If falsification is discovered after adoption, our furbaby will be removed from your possession immediately.
