Helping Shepherds Of Every Color provides needed medical care, training and rehabilitation to needy GSDs until they are ready for adoption. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and heartworm free by the time they are re-homed.

References and a home visit from one of our volunteers are required of all applicants. Our adoption fees are- $125 for high-mix dogs, $175 for seniors and special needs dogs, and $225 for purebreds. All fees are applied directly toward the care, feeding and medical needs of German Shepherd Dogs in our rescue.

As part of the adoption process and before placing any dog, you will be asked to sign a contract in which you agree to certain conditions, such as allowing a Helping Shepherds of Every Color German Shepherd Rescue agent to visit your home prior to and after placement of the dog, and surrender back to HSEC Rescue the dog if you violate the contract or are unable to keep the dog for any reason.

Our Rescue wants to adopt the right German Shepherd to the right family. Please take the time to tell us what personality traits you are looking for in a new dog. Keep in mind that rescue dogs come from shelters and ended up there for various reasons- most boil down to people not making them a part of the family. Many of these dogs have never set foot in a house before they were rescued. All our dogs live indoors in their foster homes, and we work on their house manners prior to adoption. Our volunteers put their time, money, and love into each dog, and it's up to their new owners to finish what we have started. We can't help you if you're looking for a totally house broken dog that you can leave uncrated that will not chew stuff up while you're at work. Such dogs are the products of owners who spent time training them and they rarely turn up in shelters. What we can do is tell you every thing we know about our dogs, what training milestones they have already reached, and give you advice on finishing their training as they become new member of your family.
