Second Chance League Training Log

Lots of nice huskies are at the shelter right now, but they aren't attracting much interest. At the beginning and end of the mushing season, a lot of huskies are usually left at the shelter as mushers select which dogs will make the team. We just briefly fostered one sled dog (Stoney) who is going to a competitive racing kennel. We also started fostering Boris last week, he is an enthusiastic youngster who is looking for a home.

Hmm, for some reason, I can't add photos anymore. We need Blogger Beta over here (the new upgraded version). I looked at upgrading just my blog, but it would risk blowing away all the others on the SCL site...the web mistress needs to upgrade all of them...hint...hint.

More "Where Are They Now?":

Baron is also with us. He will turn 4 years old soon. He is still uncertain around people, but has become bolder and more vocal. He is also filling out a bit, but his long legs still make him look lanky. Baron was a mere 46 pounds when he arrived at the shelter (60- 65 is appropriate for him).

Well, it's been some time since I've had an SCL foster dog. But I've been busy fostering (and adopting) directly from the Fairbanks animal shelter.

Thought it might be interesting for folks to do a "where are they now":
Serius (above) was adopted by a lady in the Wasilla area who specializes in mushing Siberians.

Kano (below) was a dog that we adopted through SCL. He died earlier this year from an aggressive cancer and was only about 6 or 7 years old.

We adopted Oreo and Doppler after their foster parent had to move out of state. They are both a lot of fun!
