Silver- Silver is doing excellent he as well as the rest of the dogs are regularly running 35mile runs. They are in excellent shape and attitudes and behavior are exceptional these days.
Silver has been running swing regularly with the hopes of slowly moving him up front. He is still a bit skittish about passing and tries to get as far away from the other team as possible. He is a hard worker and has speed beyond what I am able to utilize. Social he has improved a whole lot.
Silver along with 3 other Adopted SCL dogs competed in this years Two Rivers Tune up our 8 dog team placed 9th out of 18, in a little over 1 1/2 hours on a 20 mile loop. Like usual Silver was amazing and I could have used a few more of him to speed us up even more.
--Also in that team were Eagle -lead Twiggy&Silver -swing &Swimmer in Wheel.
Cheyenne- Cheyenne was going to go in this race as well but as the trails were fast I decided to only take 8 and she got the short end of the straw. Cheyenne is doing well I have seen none of her former aggressive tendencies yet this year. She is a hard worker and driven and also up to 35 miles. I usually run her next to one of my older males and she has been an angel. This girl is great with people and would be great with a rec team or distance team. She won't be winning any speed races but a good all around worker. Cheyenne is also de-barked.

My three available SCL dogs are back from the glacier and doing great. They had a wonderful summer and did great with the people and the glacier mushing. Now we are doing a bit of fall training to keep them in shape before snow comes.
Silver- Silver did excelent on the glacier especially in his socialization. He loves attention now and is a very happy go lucky guy. We are going 5 miles now and after getting into excelent shape over the summer he is a powerful guy and doing superb. Silver is fast and if trained for speed would probably be quite compettitive. On the glacier we were mostly doing heavy slow work so he has gotten into a fast eay trot now.
Yawner is a great little gee haw leader. She would be an excelent puppy trainer or rec leader. She sometimes didn't like the reppetitiveness of running everyday on the same trails on the glacier. Because of this I would sometimes start her out furthur back in the team on long days and then when I needed her part way around the loop switch her up to lead. In fall training here she has been running lead regularly. She knows her commands well and has been doing great with any other dog that will run up front. Yawner is sometimes shy especially with men. She is usually great with women and therefore I reccomend that this girl go to a woman.
Cheyenne1 did not go to the glacier as I was woried about her short temper with other dogs. She is training now with the other dogs though and is doing great on the 5 mile runs. She has an efficent fast steady trot and is a good worker. She has also had no trouble with the dogs around her so far and has been very good natured.
All three of these guys are doing great please let me know if you would like to know more about them or visit with them.

This summer I am up on the Glacier giving rides to tourists. A few of the available SCL dogs are with me including Yawner and Silver. It is a great oppertunity for training and also to get these two better socialized.
Yawner- She is running great up on the Glacier and is a Gee Haw leader. I run her almost every day usually in lead and she really enjoys it and is even getting a lot better at being petted by strangers. I can now run her with a begining leader and she has become quite a good trainer for some of the younger dogs. She has no trouble with the soft snow and her feet seem to be very good.
Silver- is also doing very well and runs very well in the team. He is fast and though we are quite slow many times in the wet slushy snow he always does more than his share.
The dogs live in a yard of 30 and next to other yards of the same number.
They are quite happy even though they don't get to be loose much and really seem to like running every day. We usually run teams of 10 to 12 when giving tours and with 2-3 people plus the musher on the sled and the tandem sled. I give most of the tours with my dogs though my handeler, another experienced musher also ocasionally uses my dogs to give tours. Both silver and Yawner do well for her as well and she is also very impressed with their ability.

Heading to the Glacier-
My adopted SCL dogs and Yawner(still a shelter foster) are heading with me to the Mendenhall Glacier for the summer to share our wonderful sport with tourists. Yawner will be available when we get back in September and likely in great shape, and Cheyenne and Silver will be here with AJ. This will be our first time up on the glacier and quite an adventure. I look forward to working with Yawner more as she seems to be an awome little leader. She already knows gee and haw and seems to like to run up front as well. Other SCL dogs that will be up on the glacier are: Eagle, Turbo, Swimmer, plus Yawner and 6 of my other dogs. I will try to keep this updated though my time with internet access will be limited. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer.

Silver and Cheyenne:
Silver and Cheyenne did excelent in there final runs of the season. On a trip up to the white mountians they both did exceptionally well and Cheyenne was well behaved, she is turning into a good driven dog, and an excelent worker. Neither her or silver seemed to have any problems after our spring trip and after a few days off were ready to go do it again. Silver is amazing and never losis his will to go. He get's to run loose in the pen with the other dogs and is well behaved and responsive to us. He has lost almost all of his shyness and gladly comes up for pets from strangers. He would make a great mid distance or probably even fit into a faster paced team as he does have quite a bit of speed and a lot of drive.

Silver, Cheyanne, and Eagle on the big trip.
Our trip was a blast!!! All five of the SCL dogs both available and ones we have adopted did a wonderful job and really proved their abilities.
We went on a 8 day trip from Manley Hot Springs to Tanana and then out to the old homesite on Tozitna River and back, about 200 miles in all. We took two teams of 6 dogs each and carried between 60-100lbs of extra stuff in the sleds. The dogs got experience breaking trail, blown in trails, lotts of overflow, camping in the snow and resting in harness. We spent a few days out there resting and on the return trip we made one fourty mile run and the next day did a long sixty mile run with plenty of breaks. With the loads and the small teams and the hills we averaged about 7 miles per hour.
All three of the available SCL dogs did excelent.
Silver- silver has amazing ability and had a great attitude the whole way! He was always ready to go always ate well and was a steady worker the whole trip. He really could have gone a lot faster then we were moving. His chew marks on his hips did not change over the trip and he did not seem to have any trouble with possible hip problems. His feet arn't the greatest but he is getting much better about being handled. He did drop a good amount of weight first thing but then leveled off for the rest of the run. A little agression after snacking did show up and when breaking trail and dogs are bumping against each other. only with cirtin males dogs though.
Cheyanne- Cheyanne impressed me a lot, I almost didn't take her for fear that she'd tear somebody up when we were a long ways from help so I brought a stapler and more first aid supplies than usual and didn't have to use any of them. With a little management she was an angel the whole trip. mostly I ran her next to an older and extreamly calm and easy going, manerly male which helped a lot and when we were stoped somewhere for longer then just a break, I simply hooked her coller on her tug so she was away from the others. She was a great worker and incredibly steady up all of the hills, she isn't super fast but can deffinatly do the distance and prefers to trot, but easly breaks into a lope downhill. She also is a fairly easy keeper and held her weight well even on the long runs and doesn't seem to tire easly.
Eagle- Eagle was a real trooper and possibly had the least amount of miles going into the trip. He ran lead the entire way in the front team and did an excelent job. He still doesn't poop on the run, and doesn't have the greatest feet, but AJ and I will be adopting him anyway :).
Turbo and Swimmer also went and did great, we all learned a lot and had a wonderful time.
Also Midnight's new owners are very happy with her and she is fitting in wonderfully in there house. She is inside most of the time and has a couple new best friends who seem to be very dedicated to her.

Midnight, Silver, and Cheyenne-
Midnight- made it through the cold spell, though I'm sure she wishes she had a dog barn, though the dog box worked fine for a warm place to sleep. Midnight has begun running in single lead skijoring with a dog behind her. Her first time was in a race this past weekend and though a little shaky at first she did excelent and had a blazing finish with good strong passes along the way. This girl is still available amazingly, she is excelent at skijoring and running in smaller teams (not sure about big ones yet). I would adopt her if she had enough hair to go camping. Midnight has also run in many larger distance speed teams and does very well, will run lead with a little encouragement and runs elsewhere perfectly. It has been taken off of her webpage, but it should be noted that midnight did have sesures as a yearling when she was also a reluctant sled dog, she has changed quite a bit, she has not had any since then and has shown no signs of having them again.
Silver- is also doing excelent, he does well in all positions in the team has enough sepeed for sure for a small sprint team, as well as the endurance to do longer runs. This guy is up to almost 30 miles and doing fine. He has been run in lead but is still reluctant to pass other teams, so for the time being he is better suited to other places in the team. Silver is a hard worker who loves to go fast. Fine with other dogs, and good with people and much easier to handle then when he first came.
Cheyenne- is a very nice girl and is now getting in shape to do longer runs she can do 20 miles at a trot fairly well. She has also been working on skijoring and seems to like it fine. Cheyenne is not good with other dogs when in the yard and needs a spot out of reach of others. In the team she sometimes gets annoyed with the dog next to her if they are at all wild or pushy so she runs best with a calm dog or singly. She is fine when passing other teams and is easy to handle. Cheyenne would be best as an only dog for skijoring she is great with people and would be good to learn with as she is calm, easy to handle and not too fast. She would also work with a recreational team if she can be either kept seperate from other dogs when not in harness and only paired with calm dogs.
We are training for a long 200 mile camping trip over spring break, and Silver and Cheyenne will be going if they are still with me then. This will be a good test for them both and excelent experience.
