Been a long time
Hi Folks! Sorry for not posting, but I mainly post on our kennel blog RogueSummitKennel.blogspot.com so please see this blog to get updates on our training.
Jenny & Munchkin are both still running in the B team...mainly because we have 14 dogs running in the A team, so we have these girls running with the youngters and the oldsters. It's been good though, because Munchkin has become the main leader for that team. We still aren't sure if she can do more than 25 miles though. Munchkin is such a hard pulling dog that she runs herself into the ground at about 25 miles. We've been running her with the slower team to try and teach her to slow down a bit and to learn to trot, which is a very efficient gate.
Jenny has that trot down and can go for miles. She is one of those "invisible dogs" in the team...those are the ones who are such good workers that they're always on their tugs, have no problems, stay consistent and just go. However, Jenny's shyness makes her hard to handle, at least with my husband and if she were to ever get loose, we'd never catch her. She does much better with women. Hence, why she's in the B team, as I usually run the B team and Manny focuses on the A team. Manny has been running the B team off and on...but they only run about twice a week, since we need to keep the A team up and going. However, I'm going to try and focus on getting home right after school so that I can get that B team up to speed. Mainly, I need to have Munchkin, Jenny, Banjo (another rescue dog from the shelter) and Torus up to speed to be able to switch them in and out of the A team if we need to. It's nice to have dogs as "pinch hitters" in case of injuries and such with the main race dogs. I really want to race Munch, Banjo and Jenny, as I believe that even these Second Chance dogs can race and do well at it.
