Do we live in Southeast Alaska?? We have had so much rain that I'm beginning to think of moving to a REAL desert climate. But soon snow will be falling and all will be well.
My dogs are a bit crazy with the turn in the weather. I haven't started training yet, but soon I will have to just to keep the dogs from going nuts. I have still been letting them loose every day but their energy levels are particularly high now and a few more tiffs than normal are occurring.
Kiche (SCL) continues to advance in her trusting. She had a bit of a breakthrough the last couple of days. I have been putting her on a leash and walking around with her while the other dogs are loose. She really likes this and gets excited when she sees me coming with the leash. She is still very tentative as to being petted though. But the last couple of days I have just sat on her dog house with a couple of dogs beside me. She has actually jumped up on my legs for pets! She really likes being petted under the chin and around her neck. I knew this dog would be a difficult one to bring out her trustfulness but it is rewarding to see her progress although tiny at times.
BB and Misty (SCL adoptees) continue to make me laugh and bring joy to the kleckner household. Both of them sleep in the house now (a total of 9 dogs in the house at night!) and are housebroken and quiet. Misty is such a character and loves to cuddle up when I am on the couch. I often use her as a book rest when I am reading.
Jewel (Don's SCL adoptee) has also fit well into the household. She is a very funny dog. She loves to burrow under the covers and that is where she stays all night. There hasn't been any problems at all with letting her run loose with the other 24 loose dogs during the day. She does run around and bark in some dog's faces, but they just ignore her strutting around. We haven't had one problem with her being dominant or aggressive since the first few days we had her. She has definitely settled in and enjoys her place amongst the group.
Think SNOW!!

Fall is in the air....peak was a couple of days ago with gorgeous colors, but the leaves are now starting to fall and the dogs know that winter is just around the corner. They have been quite wild lately so I have been letting them loose about every day to get the energy out of them and keep them in shape for 4 wheeler training that is soon to come.
Kiche (SCL) is doing well. She will put her feet on her dog house when I am sitting there and let me scratch under her chin. She lets me pet her head without that terrified look in her eyes and likes her ears scratched and her belly rubbed. She is still quite "spooky" and I can't let her loose with the other dogs yet, but she loves to play and is getting very brave with both Don and I.
I'm very happy that I adopted Blackberry and Misty. BB sleeps in the house every night. She is such an ideal house dog. Very calm and quiet. She likes to sleep on the couch. Misty is very smart. I'm back into doing some clicker training and she just picks up things very quickly. She "sits" "shakes" and just picked up "down" in one clicker session. She is loose most of the day and evening and loves to cuddle, be brushed and sleep on my lap when I am reading on the couch.
