Still working...

Jenny is still doing well. We decided to try John Schandlemeier's idea of taking away her house. However, I didn't feel comfortable completely taking it out of her circle, so I just turned it around so that she couldn't jump inside, but if she needed to, she could get under it. I waited until we had some nice days with no rain. Additionally, Jenny has some shade bushes on either side of her circle, so I didn't have to worry about the sun baking down on her. It actually seemed to work well, as Jenny was then out amongst the living, instead of hiding inside her house each time I would feed, water, scoop, or play with the dogs. Still, she's going to need much more time to trust people. I think that she'll do even better as we start fall training. I like to massage my dogs after runs, so I'm hoping that she'll relax more with massage. Munchkin is still doing great, chunky and happy...though she should slim down once we're in full swing fall training. She sure is a happy dog!

Jenny's emergence

Good news! Jenny has started to come out of her house for me while I'm in the dog yard. She's still shy and all, but she is definitely making progress. I've been spending more time just hanging out with my fur kids...playing with them, loving on them, etc. This seems to be helping Jenny become more comfortable and she's slowly coming around. Hopefully we'll get Jenny to come around enough so that we can turn her loose in our big, fenced in area to run around and play like the rest of our kiddos.

On a different note, we took several dogs to the SNIP clinic last weekend. A huge thanks goes out to Arna, because she really put a lot into getting this program going. There were loads of volunteers who were invaluable, and of course, the vets who spent hour upon hour doing spays and neuters, as well as other procedures if they needed done. If there are folks out there who have intact dogs in their yards, encourage them to take advantage of these SNIP clinics. SCL is a great program, but to help combat the problem of over-population, we really need to spay/neuter our pets. The next clinic will be held in August, so take advantage of these great opportunities and get those fur kids signed up! The first step starts with you. :o)

Happy trails!
