Our
Featured Pet: Susie
Please note that our dogs are only available to those who
reside in the western PA/northwestern WV area. Susie
is at best guess a Rat Terrier (known) with possibly an
ACD and who knows what else! She weighs approx. 18# and
is almost 2 years old. She has a great personality, loads
of brains and a great desire to please. She is truly one
of the cutest dogs you'll ever meet. Everyone says so...see
for yourself! So what's the problem? We'll let Susie tell
you! Where do I begin? First, I live in a house with another
dog who is the star of the show - Lady has been nice to
me and all, but you can't imagine the pressure! She's beautiful
and perfect in every way. You know, long legs, gorgeous
hair, big tail. When we walk down the street together,
I feel like chopped liver. It's way too stressful living
in the shadow of a supermodel! On top of that, two cats
live here too - Jack and Pecan. Now I know what you're
thinking - what's the big deal? Well, I'm a bit ashamed
to say but I have to be honest. I have a fondness for harassing
cats. I know, I know, I should be able to control myself.
I mean, it's been well more than a year that I've lived
with them, and even though they are bigger than I am, I
just can't resist pouncing on them when they walk by. What
can I say? I'm a terrier! I've been going to CatPouncer
Anonymous meetings and my sponsor says abstinence is the
only solution. So how am I going to abstain when Pecan
walks past and flicks that big fluffy tail in my face?
I tell you, it's like torture! I have to get out of this
house! So what am I looking for? Not much, really. I'm
not so hard to get along with. I'm good with kids. I'd
love to share a home with a family, and maybe another dog
who appreciates my playfulness and wants companionship.
A home with someone who has time to help me over my shyness
would be great. Before I forget, I do have a little issue
with submissive peeing. Wait! Don't stop reading! I promise,
this too shall pass. You see, I just think I need a family
who understands me and I can come out of my shell and shine.
Let me show you how hard I can try! Tell you what, if you
give me a shot, I come with 3 paid sessions with a professional
behavior consultant. How much better can it get? You could
have me and freebies! Come on, give my keeper of the gate
a shout and let's discuss this. You won't be sorry!
All
adoptions require an application, a home visit and a contract.
No inquiries, including phone calls, will be processed
without
a completed application. |
Foster homes are badly needed!
We are in desperate need of volunteers,
especially those who can foster a dog. If you have time and/or
space to offer our dogs, please
complete our volunteer application.
Any amount of time that you can give is welcome. The dogs will
thank you!
A SPECIAL TRIBUTE
Grace Joffe
1937-2004
The Doberman world on this earth lost a very special woman on November
29th, 2004. Grace Joffe, known throughout the Doberman world as Grandma Grace,
the grand dame of Liquorish Dobes, passed from this world to the next. The excitement
of the Dobermans in Heaven that day was surely a site to see as they all
jostled each other to meet this wonderful woman who had loved them all so. We
would like to dedicate a portion of every effort that we make to the momentous
love that Grace had for all Dobermans. May our efforts always strive to be as
grand as Grace's dreams for Dobermans worldwide. I will always remember her encouragement
at my rescue efforts and her amazing support via phone and email. Thank you Grace
for helping me to have the strength and knowledge to continue with the work that
you so lovingly supported. I will always regret not having met you on this realm
and look forward to meeting you in the next one. We love you and we miss you
dearly.
MAKE
A DONATION!!!! EVERY PENNY WILL GO TO HELP THE DOBES IN OUR

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We are always in need of quality volunteers for all aspects
of rescue, including but not limited to: processing applications
such as making phone calls and doing home visits, ongoing
fund raising efforts, foster homes, administrative assistance,
etc. Every little bit helps. No amount of assistance is too
small. Our volunteers are thoroughly screened, especially
those who have contact with our rescue dogs. Foster home
expenses are paid for by the group. We are attempting to
obtain our 501C3 status, so we will need ongoing research
assistance with that as well. Please contact
us or complete
a volunteer application if you are interested.
